Celebrating International Women's Day 2025, the Australia Japan Businesswomen's Network (AJBWN) NSW Chapter and the Australia-Japan Society of NSW (AJS-NSW) are co-hosting an inspiring event focused on empowering professionals working between Australia and Japan. This event is supported by the Consulate-General of Japan in Sydney.
Our guest speaker, Ms Wendy Holdenson from Mitsui & Co. (Australia), brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors within the Australia-Japan business landscape. Wendy will share her journey, offering insights to aspiring professionals striving for growth and leadership in their careers.
This year, we are also honoured to welcome Mr Nishida, the Deputy Consul-General of Japan in Sydney. We hope to share the dynamic energy and aspirations of emerging leaders in our community, fostering meaningful connections and dialogue.

Speaker : Wendy Holdenson - Director, Mitsui & Co. (Australia)
All her career, Wendy has championed the causes of women in both Australia and Japan.
A business professional with experience at the highest levels of both the public and private sectors, since 2014 Wendy has been Director at Mitsui & Co. (Australia). She drives female empowerment programs there and at Mitsui’s Tokyo head office.
Wendy studied in Japan as a university student, then rose through the ranks of companies in Tokyo and Sydney. She leveraged this experience when Australia’s Consul-General and Trade and Investment Commission in Fukuoka, and Austrade's State Director for WA, SA and the NT.
Today Wendy serves on the advisory boards of universities in both Australia and Japan as well as the Australia-Japan Foundation. She recently received the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation Award for her contribution to our bilateral economic relationship. Learn more about Wendy here.
