Zoom Culture: Christmas-themed demonstration by Japanese expert in the art of Oshibana (Pressed flowers)

  • 07 Dec 2024
  • 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Online by Zoom

Takayuki Tanaka is manager of the Fushigi na Hana Club (https://oshibana.com/div.html?s=cl). Operated by Nihon Vogue Co., Ltd. since September 2000, the club is for pressed flower enthusiasts to learn, share and master the art. Aspiring entrepreneurs can even become instructors! Said to have originated in C16 Japan, oshibana is a popular hobby whereby pressed flowers and other botanical materials are used to create an entire picture. This demonstration will start with the basics and give you some ideas for Christmas, including candles.

After roles in customer service, Takayuki Tanaka currently works in the President's Office. With 24 years’ experience in the art of pressed flowers, he has made it his life's work to promote the hobby and related handcrafts, share knowledge about botanical specimens, and support academic projects.

Register to attend and the day before the event, we will send the Zoom link. There is no charge for this event.
