What was the impact of the natural and man-made disasters of March 2011 on the Australia-Japan business relationship? And what can business people expect going forward?

Our next AJS Business Series speaker Elizabeth Masamune is well positioned to answer this question.

Recently posted to Sydney as General Manager, International Operations, East Asian Growth Markets for Austrade, Elizabeth spent the past four years as Senior Trade Commissioner, Tokyo and Japan Country Manager.

She saw the impact of the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and Fukushima nuclear disaster at first hand, both in human terms and on Australian business in Japan.

Elizabeth has spent the majority of her career in Japan and in postings around Asia. She joined Austrade in Japan in 1987, and in addition to seven years in Japan, has worked in Djakarta, Hanoi and Seoul. In her new role she has responsibility for strategic and operational oversight of Austrade operations in China, Mongolia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and ASEAN countries.
